Ralf Haekel is Professor and Chair of British Literature at Leipzig University, Germany. His main research interests are Romantic Studies, Early Modern Drama and Theatre, Irish Studies, and Media Studies. He studied English, German, and History at Goethe University, Frankfurt, and NUI Galway. In 2003 he received his PhD from FU Berlin and in 2013 his Habiliation from Göttingen University. From 2008 to 2016 he was Associate Professor (Juniorprofessor) of English Literature and Culture at Göttingen University. He was Visiting Professor at the Universities of Mannheim, Frankfurt, Darmstadt, Hannover, and Gießen, as well as Assistant Professor at HU Berlin.
His publications include The Soul in British Romanticism.
